As Meditation Master Babaji mentions in this short video below, there are two aspects to the mind, watching or thinking. If you thinking you cannot be watching; if you are watching you cannot be thinking.
‘Watching’ here means just applying our attention but not getting involved into any thought or imagination. All these thoughts are there in the mind because we are mentally holding onto them.
In meditation we practice watching so that the mind stops thinking. As Babaji says, all thoughts and visions disappear and what remains is the pure consciousness. At this final stage its conscious attention is now always to itself.
“In meditation, first you pay attention so that you’re just watching and you’re not doing anything. Then you become one with yourself, finally.”
